Frac-Hit Prevention Countermeasures in Shale Gas Reservoirs with Natural Fractures

The development of natural fractures (NFs) in shale gas reservoirs is conducive to improving the productivity wells. However, NF leads high-frequency frac hits between infill and parent wells, which critically restricts its efficiency. To elucidate large contribution hydraulic (HFs) NFs during production NF-developed reservoirs, such WY area western China are taken as an example. A total 197 well events this systematically classified via frac-hit discrimination method, effects different factors on HF- NF- dominated studied. Combined with correlation analysis method chart main controlling affecting two types determined, corresponding prevention countermeasures proposed. research demonstrates that (1) distribution crucial after hits. HFs cause 51% 49%, respectively, (2) NF-dominated approximation angle, fracture linear density, horizontal stress difference, whereas they net pressure fractures, liquid strength HF-dominated Sensitivity shows activation difficulty coefficient fluctuates −35.1% 47.6%, maximum length −43.5% 25.29%. (3) proposed for formation mechanisms from approaches, including risk assessment path planning, pressurization diversion, infill-well fracturing parameter optimization. This paper not only provides a reference exploring mechanism fractured but also theoretical basis countermeasures.
